Workflow:

  • Claim Status

If the Billing Entity box contains a long list of providers, the provider that you're looking for may not appear in the list initially. To narrow the list, start typing the provider's name, NPI, or Tax Identification Number (TIN).

If you still can't find the billing entity, you might need to add it. See How do I add a provider to my office? for information on how to add a provider to the Billing Entity box.

Some health plans provide a Servicing Provider box to help narrow your results.

  • Billing entity is the organization or provider that submitted the claim. The billing entity is typically an organization provider associated with the tax ID submitted on the claim.
  • Servicing provider is the organization or provider that peformed the health care services indicated on the claim.

If you find the provider you need in the Billing Entity box, but not in the Servicing Provider box, skip the Servicing Provider box and continue with the search. Depending on the organization, the billing entity and servicing provider may or may not be the same provider.
