How do I assign or unassign an action item?

When action items are not assigned to an owner, they appear in the office's action item log as unassigned. Only certain NaviNet users have permissions to assign action items.

This topic describes how to:

Assign Action Items

  1. Select one or more items from the Action Item Log.
  2. Click the Assign button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. On the Action Item screen, enter a name in the New Assignment box, or use two slow clicks (not a double click) and select a name from the list that appears.
  4. Click Save Assignment.

When the new owner of the action item logs in to NaviNet, he or she will see a red exclamation point on the Action Items flag on the NaviNet toolbar indicating newly assigned action items.

Reassign Action Items

Follow the steps for assigning an action item, but choose a new name.

Unassign Action Items

  1. Select the items from the Action Item Log that you want to unassign.
  2. Click the Assign button at the bottom of the page.
  3. On the Action Item screen, use two slow clicks (not a double click) on the New Assignment box and select (unassigned) from the list that appears.
  4. Click Save Assignment.

This action item will still appear in the office's Action Item Log, but will not be assigned to a specific user. See Action Items for more information.
